In 2005, Houston City Council passed an ordinance that allows a potential landmark which meets age requirements and possesses historic and architectural significance can be designated as a Protected Landmark. Property owners must apply for and receive approval from the Archaeological and Historical Commission before City Council decides. Once Protected Landmark status is awarded, the property may only be altered externally, moved, or demolished with the permission of City of Houston.  This map shows all Protected Landmarks.,-95.380211&spn=0.078683,0.127888&z=13
